France 2024 - Saumur, Saint Emillion, Sarlat-la-Canéda
Our time in France has come to end, for now! We have had a truly magnificent time experiencing fantastic hospitality, beautiful and majestic architecture, easy driving (1,220 miles of it), and incredible scenery.
Our last stop, Sarlat-la-Canéda, delivered in every way possible. Great food, and if you love cheese as much as we do, then a visit to Chez Pierro is a must. Post dinner, the talented street performers entertained us before heading back for cheese-filled dreams in our stunning medieval accommodation, La Villa des Consuls.
On our drive to Calais, Julie asked me “what was my favourite part of the holiday?”and, I couldn’t give her a specific answer The entire trip surpassed both our expectations; however, one thing I’ll never forget was on a hot drive to Rocamadour, we stopped for a quick snap of yet another stunning chateau by the river, and Julie just walked right passed me, fully clothed, straight into the Dordogne because she was too hot! I of course had to join her and we spent several hours in and out the river enjoying an impromptu picnic - it was absolute bliss.
So, with memories of a magical time, it’s with excitement that we plan our next trip in the Spring of 2025, for a month’s photography back in the Dordogne and Provence, we cannot wait.
